With online Christmas spending predicted to top £10 billion between now and December 24th PureNet, the York-based e-commerce specialist suggests many ‘e-tailers’ would do well to make their websites more customer friendly.
“There are five simple rules that will help retailers with an online presence to get the most from the upsurge in online business that is expected in the coming months,” Daniel Warren, commercial director for PureNet, said.
The rules are:
1) A smart site search function to help you find what you want
2) Well-written descriptions that explain the products clearly with high quality images
3) Delivery options that are obvious and convenient
4) Well-structured site that is easy to navigate
5) Clearly displayed product availability information
PureNet suggests that sticking to these rules and making sure that you have an e-commerce site that can stand up to the customer spikes that happen in the run-up to Christmas will mean the difference between a season of good cheer or small beer.
