As an established retailer of consumables for the UK construction industry Parker Merchanting wanted to leap ahead of its competitors by having an outstanding e-commerce store to list and sell the 4000 plus items in the product range.
The business faced a number of challenges to bring the e-store online, not least was supporting large customer accounts that demanded the facility for staff to order from a limited range of approved products at specially negotiated prices. Parker found their e-commerce partner in retail web solutions specialists PureNet.
Added to the challenge was Parker’s requirement for the site to be designed and developed in just a few weeks. PureNet approached the project using their WebPOS framework where a set of integrated products can be chosen to match a client’s own demands for flexibility and scalability.
“The fully working prototype of Parker Merchanting’s e-store was delivered within four weeks offering over 2500 products and ability for Parkers to control the product catalogue straight away without technical training.
“We also built in specialist catalogues for individual clients with their own unique purchasing agreements, only viewable by them and the ability to support up to 10,000 products,” Daniel Warren, commercial director for PureNet said.
Given a tough brief and a huge range of products to take online PureNet tapped into their team’s experience that has seen the delivery of successful projects for likes of Cadbury and GlaxoSmithKline.
“With over 4000 items within our product range we gave PureNet a major challenge to build a fully functioning e-commerce store to list, present and sell these items to our customers in the construction sector in just four weeks. We also need to be able to update our product range to offer customers the latest products and offers. I have to say PureNet bowled us over in terms of their delivery timescales and support to get the site up and live. It is an excellent job,” Simon Rogers, marketing manager for Parker Merchanting said."
