The Client

Family-owned Poundworld is one of the UK’s leading single price retailers. The Yorkshire-based company was launched in 2004 after rebranding from Everything’s a £1 and now has over 180 stores nationwide. Poundworld currently employs a combined distribution, office and retail team of over 2,500 employees. Poundworld has since launched its multi-price brand for consumers, DiscountUK and most recently launched Discount Wholesale to cater for small and independent retailers.

The Challenge

The company needed to develop a range of digital initiatives across ecommerce, email, mobile and social integration channels, to help establish the retailers as the leading discount supplier in the UK for consumers and the trade.

The scope of the project was to assist with the promotion of trade-focused wholesale website, Discount Wholesale, as well as consumer-focused Poundworld and Discount UK, in order to increase profile, visitor numbers and revenue.

What We Did

In its new role as digital marketing agency for the company, PureNet worked closely with internal staff, in addition to their existing website provider and other external agencies.

Digital marketing techniques, including search engine optimisation (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC), email marketing and link building were used to help drive traffic to all three company websites, aiding conversion and increasing transactions.

Additionally PureNet offered best practice consultancy advice on conversion optimisation, A/B testing and user insights.


The Results

  • The company are number 1 on Google for a number of relevant keywords
  • PPC ROI up 1117.55%, CPA down £12.93 and revenue up 65%
  • SEO organic traffic up 142%, conversion from up 0.71%, revenue up 143%
  • Tthe business now turns over circa £5million annually, and is continuing to grow
